Let your light shine, for it keeps those around you warm!

“Keep away from those who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you believe that you too can become great.”
-Mark Twain

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
-Used by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech

Oh wow ... what a wonderful day to check back in with you! I've not yet caught up with all you've posted in my absence, but I wanted to wish you and TB a belated happy anniversary. I enjoyed seeing the old photo of the two of you at Peajay's yesterday.

This photo almost makes me think about living someplace away from the ocean like you do ... almost, but not quite. Thanks for sharing it and the wonderful quotes! You know how I love quotes and I've added these to my collection.

One more thing -- I can't recall if I mentioned that I left a little something for you and for TB at Sacred Ruminations a while back because the two of you Make My Day ... on January 29th I believe. If you've not yet stopped by to collect it, I hope you will soon. There are also two other things (a floral bouquet and a blogging friend award) at Small Reflections you might like to pick up and pass along to others.

I'm praying for your niece and hope she's doing better.
Hugs and blessings,

The Mandela quotation is magnificent - it's getting copied straight into my journal.

Laurie, I wish that was my photo, but alas, it was e-mailed by a friend

And the quotes are great, too.

I've been thinking about this during the course of today - which resulted in my blog entry tonight.

Thanks
