Follow the reek?

...follow him anywhere?!...ah, how romantic, cough, cough, ahem, cough, sputter.

...I find these old ads interesting, as you wonder how much influence they have/have had in shaping our culture.

"Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs"

Im a smoker whither I smoke 5 or 15 a day it’s a filthy expensive habit
I don’t inhale, but never the less I smoke.
I hold it in my mouth for a few seconds then blow out.
My family gets so wild with me about it
Habit yes.
Addictive yes.
Expensive yes.
I smoke because of boredom and to keep my sanity I was thinking of other habits I could maybe change to but to be honest I think I will just stay the way I am
Have stopped several times for over 2 years each time and didn’t bother me then the old panic and anxiety creep in for some unknown reason and I start again
I think there my security blanket
Can’t stand dirty ash tray’s or smelling cigarette smoke anywhere especially the smell of smoke off a person it’s so disgusting
Have a smoke outside then wash hands brush teeth till next one
That’s me
As for the add if someone blew smoke on my face or even close to I would go bananas that’s so filthy
My opinion anyway

Great quote you done!

“Oscar Wilde: 'Do you mind if I smoke?' Sarah Bernhardt: 'I don't care if you burn'”
Sarah Bernhardt
Tobacco, divine, rare, super excellent tobacco, which goes far beyond all the panaceas, potable gold, and philosophers' stones, a sovereign remedy to all diseases
. . . but as it is commonly abused by most men, which take it as tinkers do ale,
'tis a plague, a mischief, a violent purger of goods, lands, health; hellish, devilish and damned tobacco, the ruin and overthrow of body and soul.

- Robert Burton
And a little humor

Cigarettes are killers that travel in packs..

Hi SW,
...like the quotes! :)
I love the smell of a good pipe tobacco. The hubby indulges on occasion, as well as cigars...which I don't mind as long as they're a nice tobacco (I even indulge with a lady size cigar on occasion!! ;))

I posted the ad more for the 'you've got to be kidding me, blowing smoke in her face is sexy?? What were they thinking back then' kinda response!! Kinda like you said!! ;):)

Cigarettes yea or nay, doesn't bother me, it's a personal choice...although I'd prefer a well-ventilated area were I around those smoking. I wonder if the problem of quitting and all that goes with it is worse in the stress of it, than actually smoking?

Yes, blow in her face she'll follow you anywhere, first to the hospital and then to the morgue.

Having lived 21 years with a ‘smoker’ … one of the things I’m most grateful for in my divorce was living a ‘smoke-free’ life. I’m reminded this morning of the ad campaign years ago (perhaps by Virginia Slims?) that used the slogan ‘You’ve come a long way baby!’ … and how my immediate reaction was something like … ‘not far enough to escape being referred to as baby’ …
Hugs and blessings,
