Joy and Sadness
"It's the joy, a light joy and it's sadness a long wailing note of sadness
which winds thru all time, Ireland.
It's a perfect balance of these two things, joy and sadness
each ingredient makes the other by its very contrast truer and deeper
together waltzing around us, within us, within us all.
The whistle and the fiddle like cool water from a rocky spring
the droning pipes, now there is pride and strength sounding through the open air.
One can hear the depth of the sea, along with the rustling of the grasses.
One can hear the cries of their ancestors along with the laughter of their children.
Ah, yes, it's the balance of these two things, together, waltzing around us, within us, within us all. Ireland."

Many a happy -- and slightly drunken -- night I spent in Matt's.
i've been there too, though i can't remember if i was drunk.
Aghh, missed the place when we were over that way, though visited a few other ones with plenty of good craic. Well, that just means I'll be having to go back... :D
Thanks for stopping by the blog, the both o' yous. :)
Looks like a few glasses of the black stuff have been consumed by most of them (not a bad thing in my book!)
Ah - wonderful - to be sure! My father played the flute - he'd have needed a lot of 'puff' for that tune HGF.
seems the vid was removed, ah well, found another. Not quite as foot stomping, but good all the same.
