This is a Mojave Green rattlesnake. A very nasty critter. They will actually chase you! And, they travel in pairs...so ya best run in the 'right' direction....

Looks a bit dry out there.
Tough decision on that one HGF - I hate snakes. I know I'll be bitten by midgies this year - and they bite me real hard and leave massive welts which take 2 weeks to go away - driving me crazy with itch the whole time. Maybe I'd have a better chance with snakes - even two of them! xx
it's always a bit disconcerting to be out and about...you just have to be aware.

(have made the back garden sort of an oasis to compensate :))
