Arrested for laughing...
This is from an actual trial in the UK. A young Woman who was several months pregnant was sitting in a bus. When she noticed a young man smiling at her she began feeling humiliated on account of her condition. She changed her seat & he seemed more amused. She moved again and then on seeing him laughing more, she filed a court case on him. In the court the Man's defence was: "When the lady boarded the bus I couldn't help noticing she was pregnant. She sat under an advertisement, which read 'Coming Soon- The unknown boon'. I was even more amused when she then sat under a shaving advertisement, which read: 'William's stick did the trick'.""Then I could not control myself any longer, when on the third move she sat under an advertisement, which read: 'Dunlop Rubber would have prevented this accident..'
The case was dismissed... the judge fell off his chair laughing....

"The length of our lives is not at our command..."
August 26, 2008 while driving home from work, I had 3 seconds to try and avoid the headlights that were coming up over the hill at a combined speed of 110mph. The impact threw the heavy duty 4x4 truck up in the air. I was told that I'm in the 1% that lives (and) walks away. Another year to reflect; and again, I am thankful for my friends and family, and to all of you good people who have crossed my path since then. The pic is titled: "Riding with Angels" ... Romans 8:28 comes to mind "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose".
A favourite quote: "The length of our lives is not at our command, however much the manner of them may be. If our Creator enable us to act the part of honour, and to conduct ourselves with spirit, probity, and humanity, the change to another world whether now or fifty years hence, will not be for the worse."
-Maj. Patrick Ferguson
(Ironically, this man died while fighting some of my American ancestors at the Battle of Kings Mountain, 1780).
Are you nurturing your inner Be?
Be defined:
1. To exist in actuality; have life or reality
2.a. To occupy a specified position
... b. To remain in a certain state or situation undisturbed, untouched, or unmolested
3. To take place; occur
4. To go or come
5. Used as a copula/linking verb in such senses as:
a. To equal in identity
b. To have a specified significance
c. To belong to a specified class or group
d. To have or show a specified quality or characteristic
e. To seem to consist or be made of
6. To belong
...heard a sermon the other day, on Joshua and the God of second chances...So, the thought of this post, is to evaluate your "be" and nurture the "be" that you wish to become in your life; and, no doubt God wants you to be for His purpose.
.... "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." -Phil 4:8

History Repeats? A quote to ponder
"Yes, we did produce a near-perfect republic. But will they keep it?
Or will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom?
Material abundance without character is the path of destruction."
-Thomas Jefferson, from a letter to John Adams

Thought for the Day
"When money is our objective, we must live in fear of losing it, which makes us paranoid and suspicious. When fame is our aim, we become competitive lest others upstage us, which makes us envious. When power and influence drive us, we become self-serving and strong-willed, which makes us arrogant. And when possessions become our god, we become materialistic, thinking enough is never enough, which makes us greedy. All these pursuits fly in the face of contentment...and joy."
-Charles Swindoll, 'Five Meaningful Minutes a Day'
